I have been married since May of 2011 to Marla Joy and therefore I am deeply thankful to God for the gift of marriage and relationship. She is truly my best friend. It is quite humbling to experience the joys of friendship with the two other individuals who are a part of this blog. I say humbling because--although I do not completely understand--I realize that it is probably millions of providential brushstrokes that have painted the path to bringing the three of us together into deep brotherhood and friendship. And, I know for certain that I do not deserve these friends but I am deeply thankful to God for them.
I am thankful to God for John Piper who has often pointed my gaze towards a high view of God's sovereignty, a passion for missions, and an unwavering pursuit to find ultimate joy and satisfaction in God. I am also thankful to God for N. T. Wright who has pushed me to think deeply about the gospel: specifically the importance of Jesus being the Messiah, the significance of the resurrection, new creation, Christian hope, etc., and the overwhelming importance of living in accordance with all of these realities which fit into the beautiful Story that God is telling in history. I am thankful for authors like C.S. Lewis and N.D. Wilson who have pointed my eyes towards the wonders of creation and life--which fuels deeper joy in God. I am confident that the Spirit has and is using these and many others(not to mention the local faith-community I am a part of) to push me closer to a God-honoring "cruciform" life (Phil. 2-3).
I am currently teaching theology and Greek at Greenbrier Christian Academy in Virginia.

I'm convinced that the gospel--the life-narrative of Jesus--isn't merely something in which I'm supposed to believe or by which I'm supposed to be humbled; it's designed to be my life-story too. And, since my story is to be a pattern or re-living of Christ's, I know that my ending will be as happy as his was/is/will be. I guess "everything unhappy is [in the process of becoming] untrue." Life "in him" is the fairy tale we all hoped was real. For me, this blog is a means to bridging the future with the present, to making what I shall be inform what I am: accepted and complete and unmitigatingly joyful as a result.
Currently I'm studying at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary under D. A. Black and am working as an administrative assistant to James K. Dew, Jr. Ultimately I hope to be doing theological training in N. Afr.
